We are currently hiring for a Shop Runner—Pokemon Speciality with weekend availability (11-6 Saturday and/or Sunday), plus one other day of the week and potential for more hours in the future.

We have been around for 1 year and are looking to expand our store. We started with just an eBay store 2 years ago, then moved into a real retail store last year, and in our first year our monthly revenue has increased 400%. We are looking to expand both our hours and our events offering. That's where you come in!

This job is perfect for someone who wants to learn the ins-and-outs of a modern retail + e-commerce company, integrated using Shopify and also selling in other channels like eBay. It's also perfect for someone who likes POKEMON, MAGIC THE GATHERING, and SPORTS CARDS.

An ideal candidate would have the following qualities:

  • Knowledge of the Pokemon trading card game and Pokemon collectables market. This job is perfect for someone who wants to take their interest in Pokemon cards professional.
  • Experience in retail or service. Ability to open and close a retail store after a training period doing ride-alongs with us.
  • Ability to host Pokemon trade events and ideally Pokemon play events. Some knowledge of the game and a willingness to learn the ins and outs of the game to run events.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheets like Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel. We're very organized and use spreadsheets and similar programs frequently.
  • A desire to learn how to run a store using Shopify and related apps that sell in an integrated way across the web and in-store.
  • The ability to ship packages using the USPS website, eBay, and Shopify.
  • A friendly and helpful disposition.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Knowledge of Magic: the Gathering and/or the 4 major American sports plus soccer.
  • A desire to grow in the role and eventually move into a full time shoprunner role if circumstances permit.
  • Knowledge of online marketing or a desire to learn and do online marketing. We run online ads and communicate with customers on social media.
  • Technical knowledge or a desire to acquire technical knowledge to do things like participate in building automatic pricing and inventory systems. We love technology and try to automate as much of our work as possible. Our long-term goals involve a lot of tech (one of our founders builds tech things like this).

PAY and HOURS

  • $18-22 an hour depending on experience, with the opportunity for advancement
  • Initially, Saturday 11-6, possibly Sunday 11-6, and one/two weekdays 1-5. More hours as we grow and as appropriate. Saturday will have an event.
